John* is a 27-year-old Singapore who moved out of his family home 6 months ago and has been staying at Coliwoo @ Keppel since. Here is his co-living journey.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, I adopted the work-from-home model as others did. However, it became extremely challenging for me as I was living with my family. I hardly had space where I could sit and work peacefully, which drastically affected my work efficiency and productivity. I was facing regular concentration-busting interruptions.
Having known the struggles I was facing with work-from-home arrangements, one of my friends suggested that I moved to Coliwoo’s co-living space. Though I had heard a lot about the co-living in Singapore, I was uncertain whether it was suitable for me, especially when it comes to sharing spaces with others.
After spending few days on research, I settled on Coliwoo @ Keppel due to its facilities and amenities. The moving-in process was seamless and no agent fees had to be paid. While being anxious and stressed on my first day was expected, the Coliwoo staff explained to me everything in detail and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable.
Within a few days, I found that moving to co-living is one of the best decisions of my life. Let me take you through my experience with co-living in Singapore at Coliwoo.
Co-living has provided me with a conducive environment where I can concentrate on my work and attend online meetings. The workstation in my room helps me to work for long hours in a comfortable manner. The strong wifi connectivity has made my remote work life smooth and easy as well. I have the option to work from the lounge area or the private backyard in the event I am looking to switch up my work environment. As all the members respect each other’s personal spaces, there is hardly any disturbance during the work.
The best part of co-living is that it provides me with an opportunity to meet new people and make friends. The fun time spent together and conversations that we share are extremely meaningful, and through this, I have created unforgettable memories.
While I was still living with my family, I did not have to concern myself with everyday considerations like meals and housekeeping. However, since moving to a shared living space, I have learnt to become independent and responsible. I have to plan my meals, ensure that my own living space is tidied and that everyday essentials are perpetually stocked up. The housekeeping services provided twice a week is also of great help.
My room at Coliwoo @ Keppel is fully furnished with a king-sized bed, en-suite bathroom, workstation, island kitchenette, washing cum drying machine, and a wardrobe. This provides me with the comfort of a home away from home. Whenever I feel gloomy and tired I go to the beautiful garden within the co-living space for some fresh air. I instantly feel energetic, happy, and rejuvenated.
The maintenance, repairs, and housekeeping services are provided by the co-living space. Thus, I do not have to worry about repairs, cleaning, bills, or interference from landlords.
There is no doubt that Singapore is one of the safest countries in the world. The crime rate here is extremely low but even so, Coliwoo has 24/7 CCTV surveillance and security guards to ensure the safety of its members.
It’s been around 6 months since I have been co-living in Singapore, and I do not have any plans to leave anytime soon. From my experience, I can safely share that co-living has transformed my life.
I have realised that I am actually much more comfortable in a co-living space than I expected. Co-living has provided me with a unique combination of sociability and privacy, and it is an experience that everyone should go through in their lifetime. As such, if you are searching for a room for rent in the CBD area, I would strongly recommend for you to stay at Coliwoo @ Keppel.
